ADA Summary signs
which designate permanent rooms and spaces are required to have
raised letters and numerals accompanied by Grade 2 Braille. Raised
Characters shall be at least 5/8” high, but no higher than
2”. Pictograms shall have the equivalent verbal description
listed directly below it. Signs shall have non-glare finish with
characters and symbols that contrast their background. Signs shall
be installed on the wall adjacent to the latch side of the door.
Where there is no
wall space to the latch side of the door, signs shall be placed
on the nearest adjacent wall, mounting height shall be 60”
above the floor to the centerline of the sign, mount signs so
that a person may approach 3” of signage without encountering
protruding objects or standing within the swing of a door.”
